Active Transportation Plan

The Town of Whitby is currently undertaking an Active Transportation Plan (ATP) Study which will involve significant public and stakeholder consultation.

The purpose of the ATP is to build upon the Town of Whitby Cycling and Leisure Trails Plan (2010) and Town of Whitby Transportation Master Plan (2010 and to develop a comprehensive forward looking plan that contributes to increased transportation options and outlines the Town's short, medium and long term Active Transportation strategy for walking, cycling, and other forms of active transportation.

Whitby Cycling and Leisure Trails Plan

The objective of the Whitby Cycling and Leisure Trails Plan is to develop a safe, convenient cycling and trails network. The plan focuses on best practices, future policies, design standards, public education, and funding strategies, as well as short- and long-term implementation strategies.

Active Transportation and Safe Roads Advisory Committee

The purpose of the Active Transportation & Safe Roads Advisory Committee (ATSRAC) is to advise Council on matters related to Safe Roads, active transportation and trails, monitor the implementation of the Cycling and Leisure Trails Plan and encourage, promote and participate in the planning of active transportation and Safe Roads policies, programs and facilities.
