Smart meters on Centre Street North |
You can use the Town's smart meters installed on Centre Street North between Dundas St. and Mary St. The user-friendly meters accept credit cards and coins. |
Pay by phone with HonkMobile |
If you're using paid on-street parking spaces or municipal parking lots in Whitby or Brooklin, you can pay by phone for municipal parking using the HonkMobile application. Download the HonkMobile application through the App Store or Google Play on your mobile device. If you have an iOS or Android device, the app is free. You can benefit from HonkMobile in multiple ways because you can:
Parking enforcement for HonkMobileAlthough your parking time is not displayed on the meter with HonkMobile, Parking Enforcement Officers use a wireless handheld device to detect when you've paid for your parking. Ticket voidsWhile we make every effort to ensure you don't receive a ticket after paying to park with HonkMobile, communication and technology issues occur from time to time. If you receive a parking ticket after paying for HonkMobile, email us your HonkMobile receipt to have your ticket voided or contact our Parking Services at 905.430.4322. |
Metered parking |
You can use one of 274 parking meters for on-street parking spaces throughout our Downtown. Maximum parking is two hours for a rate of $1.50 per hour. Free parkingParking is free weekdays after 6 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Please continue to respect the two hour maximum for metered parking. If you have a valid accessible parking permit, you may also park free of charge at metered spaces. Prohibited parking hoursYou are prohibited to use metered parking on Dundas St. between Brock St., Euclid St./Henry St. during the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. On street parking on Mary St., between Brock St. and Byron St., is also prohibited between 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. This helps support traffic flow during rush hour. From November 1 to April 15, you are prohibited to park on any road or street between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. |
Our rate for using municipal parking lots is $1 per hour. You can find pay and display ticket machines in each parking lot that accept Visa, Mastercard and coins. Ticket machines located in Brooklin only accept coins.
Free parking |
We offer free parking every weekday after 6 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Please continue to respect the three hour maximum time limit for parking lots. If you have a valid accessible parking permit displayed in your vehicle, you can park free of charge in any parking lot. |

There are six municipal parking lots within the Town's downtown core and one in Brooklin's downtown with 90 parking spaces. These parking lots are strategically placed to allow you to shop and do business. Contact us for our map of parking services in Downtown Whitby. |
Leased parking passes |
If you are interested in leasing a parking space for municipal lots numbers 3, 6 or 9, you can contact Transportation Services to receive a parking pass in the mail. This parking pass allows you to regularly use parking spaces with the convenience of a parking pass instead of having to purchase and display your parking ticket every day. If you have a disability and would benefit from parking designed and located to assist with accessibility, you can apply for an accessible parking permit. Accessible parking spaces are available in the municipal parking lots. These parking spaces are marked with a posted sign.
You must have valid accessible parking permit displayed in your vehicle, and the permit holder must have been in the vehicle to use an accessible parking permit. You will be charged a minimum fine of $300 if you do not have a valid permit displayed.
We acknowledge the valuable service our veterans provide to our Country. If you are a veteran and have a vehicle displaying a veteran licence plate, you have access to free parking at on-street metered parking spaces and in municipal paid parking lots for the allotted maximum times.

The Draft Parking Master Plan report was presented to Committee of the Whole on June 25, 2020. The Parking Master Plan Status Update Report was presented at the Committee of the Whole Meeting on Monday May 13, 2019. The purpose of the meeting was to present the Committee with a status update of the Parking Master Plan project, including information display boards shared. The report included preliminary recommendations that were presented to the public for comment at a June Public Information Centre:
