The Town of Whitby issues tax bills that cover Town services and programs as well as levies for the Region of Durham and for education purposes. Learn how to pay your property taxes, review your property assessment, or use our tax calculator.
The property tax due dates will change each year. You can find the due date on your property tax bill. The interim property tax installments are typically due in February and April. The final property tax installments are typically due in June and September.
2021 Tax Due Dates:
Interim - February 22, 2021, and April 26, 2021.
Final - June and September due dates will be available by the end of May 2021.
Supplemental tax bills are issued during the summer and fall months for newly constructed homes or properties that have had additions or improvements. These bills will be issued after the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) has assessed the new home or improvement. These due dates will vary depending on timing of the notification from MPAC.
We issue tax bills twice a year. If you pay your Interim bill directly (not through your mortgage company or through pre-authorized payments), you can expect to receive this tax bill by mail by the end of January. All property owners will have their final bills mailed by the end of May.
If you wish to receive these tax bills electronically, you can sign up electronic billing through Canada Post. Please have your most recent tax bill handy when signing up to confirm that you are the owner. By using this option it can make it easier for you to receive, store and manage your property tax bill(s).
Once you are enrolled, you will automatically continue to receive your bills electronically until you cancel. The deadline to register to ensure that you can receive your interim bill electronically is the end of December. The deadline to register to ensure that you can receive your final bill electronically is the end of April.
This service is currently not available for any supplemental tax billings or reminder notices.
