We operate two swimming pools with aquatics programs and recreational swimming, leadership/lifeguard programs and swimming lessons for different age groups (Red Cross Learn to Swim program). Please be advised that the pool at the Whitby Civic Recreation Complex is currently closed due to the change room renovation.
Aquafit classes are currently being offered with reduced capacity by registration only due to COVID-19 health and safety regulations. Please subscribe to recreation updates and watch our news and notices for updates on the next registration period.
Registered swim programs are being offered at our the Anne Ottenbrite Pool at Iroquois Park Sports Centre. Red Cross Swim Level Descriptions By Age Group

Red Cross preschool swimming lessons are geared towards children up to 6 years of age. Red Cross Swim Kids levels one to ten are for children ages 6 to 12. All preschool and Swim Kids levels will run for a 30 minute duration. For descriptions on swim levels please visit our Red Cross Learn to Swim Page. Final report cards will be provided to participants on the final week of the program. Due to capacity and COVID limitations the instructors will be unable to discuss progress with parents. If you have questions or concerns please connect with the Pool Coordinator on the pool deck.

General Program Adjustments
Swimming Lesson changes coming soon! Coming soon, Whitby will offer swimming, lifeguarding and aquatic leadership programs provided by the Lifesaving Society of Canada. The Canadian Red Cross announced in January that it is transitioning to focus on its humanitarian efforts and will end its Aquatic Programming after training generations of swimmers for over 75 years. This means that our swim program names and levels will change as we adjust our lessons to follow the plan set out by the Lifesaving Society. Stay tuned for more information on this important change. |

Whitby Civic Recreation Complex Pool | ||
The Whitby Civic Recreation Complex pool is located at: 555 Rossland Rd. E. The pool is currently closed for renovations. For more information contact us by phone at 905.666.1991.

Maximum of two children 6-years-old and under, regardless of swimming ability, will not be admitted to the pool unless they're with a parent or guardian who is at least 14-years-old. The parent or guardian must be in the water within arm's reach of the child. As a parent or guardian, you can swim with two children who are 6 years of age or under.
Children between the ages of seven and nine must successfully pass the two-width swim test, administered by Aquatic staff, to be eligible to swim alone. Children in this age range who do not pass the swim test are required to have a parent/guardian in the water within arm's reach at all times.
Children 10-years-old and older are permitted to swim on their own.
