Canada Day is nearly here! As you get ready to celebrate on July 1, here is what you need to know:
Pack your blanket or lawn chairs and join us at Victoria Fields Park on July 1 to watch fireworks light up the sky at approximately 10 p.m. If you plan to use your own fireworks, remember they are only permitted on Tuesday, July 1 on private property from dusk until 11 p.m. Be safe, responsible, and considerate of your neighbours. Learn more at whitby.ca/CanadaDay.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to decorate their homes, lawns, and porches in red and white leading up to Canada Day.
As we celebrate, be sure to check out the newly painted crosswalks around town!
In honour of our veterans:
- Green Street near Dundas Street.
- Campbell Street in Brooklin near Baldwin Street.
Canada-themed designs:
- Downtown at the 4 Corners (Brock & Dundas).
- Cassels Road near Roebuck Street.
Summer is a great time to explore Whitby’s parks and trails. Visit our interactive map to find one near you.
While visiting our parks, please do your part to help keep our outdoor spaces as beautiful as they were when you found them by putting waste in its place or taking home what you bring. And remember, if you’re looking to use a BBQ in one of Whitby’s picnic shelters, a permit is required. Learn how to apply for a permit.
Long weekends are a great time to relax and catch up on your reading. All Whitby Public Library locations will be closed on Tuesday, July 1. Digital content is available 24/7 at WhitbyLibrary.ca.
All Town facilities will be closed on Tuesday, July 1 and will reopen on Wednesday, July 2.
There will be no waste collection services on Tuesday, July 1. Please put your garbage, green bin, and blue boxes out one day after your regular pick up day. To confirm your collection pick up day, check the waste collection calendar or download the Whitby Waste Buddy app. Visit our waste page for details.
Happy Canada Day, Whitby!
