You are eligible to vote in the municipal election if you meet all of the following requirements:
There are 3 ways that you can qualify to vote in a municipality:
Neither you nor your spouse qualify as a non-resident elector if you do not personally own or rent the property in the municipality. For example, if the property is owned by your business or your cottage is owned by a trust, you would not qualify as a non-resident elector. |
How and Where Do I Vote? |
Election Day Election Day is on October 24, 2022, with polls being open between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Whitby operates a vote anywhere system, which means that eligible electors can visit any voting location in the Town of Whitby to cast their ballot. Polls are also held at long term care homes and other institutions on Election Day, exclusively for the residents of those homes or institutions. A listing of Election Day voting locations will be posted closer to Election Day. Advance Voting An Advance Vote period will begin on Thursday, October 20, 2022 and run to Sunday, October 23, 2022 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Similar to Election Day, eligible electors can cast a ballot at any advance voting location. Polls are also held at select senior and retirement homes prior to Election Day, exclusively for the residents of those homes. A listing of Advance Vote locations will be posted closer to Election Day. Special Mail-in Ballots If an elector is unable to vote during the Advance Vote or on Election Day, or cannot attend a polling location for any other reason, they can apply to receive a Special Mail-in Ballot. More information on accessing the Town’s Special Mail-in Ballot program including the application form will be made available at a later date. How do I vote? Choose the location and time that is most convenient for you and remember to bring your Voter Notification Card (mailed in early October) and acceptable ID that includes your name and qualifying address.
