If you don't make an oral submission at a public meeting or make a written submission to us before a decision is made, you are not entitled to appeal the decision of Whitby Council to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal. You may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to add you as a party. Personal information that you provide in either an oral or written submission on an application is collected under the authority of the Planning Act R.S.O. 1990 and the applicable implementing Ontario Regulation. It will become part of the public record for the application. A statutory public planning meeting allows Council to make local planning decisions within the timelines outlined in the Planning Act. Statutory public meetings provide you with an opportunity to give feedback on Council discussions that matter to you. We provide you with information and receive submissions about development applications considered and reviewed by Staff.
Statutory public planning meetings with us are held approximately once every month always starting at 7 p.m. Your public meeting may start later than 7:00 p.m. if there are several public meetings that day.
