Residents are reminded the first instalment of the 2024 Interim Tax Billing is due on Friday, February 23, 2024. This billing applies to all properties in the Town of Whitby. You now have the option to sign up for e-billing for property taxes and receive all future tax bills via email. Visit whitby.ca/tax to sign up with the access code from your bill.

The interim tax bills were sent to property owners at the end of January 2024. If you did not receive a tax bill and you are responsible for payment, please contact the Tax Department at 905.430.4304 to obtain the necessary information.

If your tax account is enrolled in the monthly pre-authorized payment plan or is being paid by your mortgage company, you will not receive an Interim tax bill, contact the Town if you are unsure if this applies to you.

If you have enrolled in the e-billing program for property taxes and did not receive your Property Tax e-bill in your email inbox by January 31, 2024, please check your spam/junk folder and/or contact the Town at tax@whitby.ca so we may relay to you the amounts due from your Interim tax bill.

Please note that payments not received by Friday, February 23, 2024 are subject to a penalty charge of 1.25 per cent on the first day of default and the first day of each calendar month so long as non-payment continues.

Payment can be made in the following ways:

1. By pre-authorized payment plan: visit whitby.ca or call Town Hall at the number above for more information.
2. By internet or telephone banking: inquire at your financial institution. It is the property owner’s responsibility to ensure the correct information, including roll number, is used for these transactions. The Town is not responsible for payment errors made by the taxpayer and there will be a fee to correct any payments made in error.
3. At participating financial institutions: a payment stub is required if paying at a financial institution. Please remember to allow sufficient time for processing between the bank and Town Hall to avoid any penalty.
4. By mail: address payment to the Town of Whitby, Tax Division, 575 Rossland Road East, Whitby, Ontario, L1N 2M8. When mailing payment, the taxpayer assumes responsibility for late arrival of payment and any penalty/interest charges that may apply. Post-dated cheques are acceptable.
5. By cash, cheque or debit in person: at Town Hall, 575 Rossland Road East, Whitby. Post-dated cheques are acceptable (please bring your tax bill so staff can stamp the back of the bill for your official receipt).
6. After hours ‘outside’ mail slot at the above address: Do not deposit cash. Post-dated cheques are acceptable.

If paying by cheque, please make cheque payable to the Town of Whitby and write the property tax roll number(s) on the front of the cheque. All cheques that are not honoured by a financial institution, for any reason, will be subject to an administration fee.

Note: All payments must be in Canadian funds and drawn from a Canadian Financial Institution.
