Make the most of summer in Whitby this July with outdoor activities for everyone to enjoy. Here are just some of the many activities and events to take part in next month:

1. Canada Day Fireworks at Victoria Fields  

This year’s Canada Day celebration will look a bit different, with fireworks only starting at approximately 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1 at Victoria Fields (345 Watson Street)! Pack your blankets and lawn chairs and join us! If you plan to use your own fireworks, remember they are only permitted on Tuesday, July 1 on private property from dusk until 11 p.m. Be safe, responsible, and considerate of your neighbours. 2. Attend an Outdoor Summer Concert 

Listen to great music performed live by local musicians during Music in the Park. Join us every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Rotary Centennial Park (800 Brock Street South) and every Thursday starting July 3 at 7 p.m. at Grass Park (41 Baldwin Street). 3.  Outdoor Movie Nights are Back!

Join us for a magical movie night at the movies – under the stars! Whitby’s Movies in the Park returns this July with two exciting showings: Mufasa on July 11 and Despicable Me 4 on July 25. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks to Whitby Civic Park, where films play at dusk on an outdoor screen with concert-quality sound. Even more movies are coming this August. 4. Enjoy Guided Walking Food Tours

Whitby is home to a variety of excellent restaurants and breweries. Explore our community’s thriving culinary scene and connect with other foodies through two unique Guided Walking Food Tours in Downtown Whitby (Downtown Brooklin Tours coming later this summer!). 5.  Visit the Whitby and Brooklin Farmers’ Markets

Shop outdoors for fresh local produce, baked goods, unique handmade products, and tasty treats. The Whitby Farmers’ Market runs every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Celebration Square (in front of the Whitby Public Library). The Brooklin Farmers’ Market runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3 Vipond Road Brooklin (near the Brooklin Community Centre and Library). For more information, visit whitbyfarmersmarket.ca.

6. Discover Whitby’s Public Art and Playful Street Activations

Roebuck Street in Brooklin is now a pedestrian-only space for the summer, featuring vibrant art by local artists, interactive games like foosball and cornhole, and a giant strawberry photo op. 7. Attend A Culture Pop-Up

Come down to the Whitby waterfront for two exciting Culture Pop-up events happening this July:

• Bollywood on the Pier on Tuesday, July 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. – experience dynamic performances of Bhangra, traditional Indian folk dance, and the rhythms of Afro Hip-Hop by Dance Bollywood. Bounce to the beat of the Dhol Drum while taking in Whitby’s waterfront views, then follow along to a short demonstration and join in the fun! No experience required.
• A Greek Summer Night on July 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. – enjoy a live performance and try out traditional Greek dancing.

8. Attend the Whitby Ribfest                                                       

Ribfest is returning to Whitby this month. Join in the festivities on July 11, 12, and 13 at Victoria Fields (345 Watson Street). Enjoy award-winning ribs, a variety of vendors, rides and games, and live entertainment. Learn more: WhitbyRibfest.com.
