COVID Update - Whitby Returns to 4 Bag Limit September 8, 2020
Bag limits were temporarily relaxed during the COVID facility closures. As of September 8, the 4 bag limit will be in effect. Please see details below on your residual garbage set-out requirements and where you can access garbage bag tags:
Garbage is collected bi-weekly (every other week) on your regular collection day.
- There is a four-bag limit per household. Each bag over the limit must be tagged with a Whitby-issued bag tag.
- All garbage must be in bags. Garbage containers are not allowed in Whitby's collection program.
- Maximum size of bags: 66 cm wide by 91 cm tall (26 inches by 36 inches) at the time of purchase. Oversized bags will not be collected.
- Maximum weight per bag: 20 kilograms (44 pounds). Bags that break open when lifted will not be collected.

Residents can now purchase garbage bag tags online (please allow for 7-10 business days to receive tags in the mail).
In-person sale of garbage bag tags is also available at Town locations listed below:
NOTE: CFC removal stickers can also be purchased at these locations.
Special Consideration to the Bag Limits
Residents with either a medical condition, or three children under the age of 3 may be eligible for the Special Consideration Program. Residents are required to complete the Special Consideration Application Form, and return this to the Operations Centre.
