When and where to place your items
You must place your items at the curb by 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection date. You can place your bulky waste items out at the same spot you normally place your garbage and recycling. Your waste shouldn't be placed on the roadway or sidewalk.
Please do not park vehicles in front of your items. During the winter months, ensure your waste material is placed on a snow-cleared portion of the boulevard or on the snow-cleared portion of your driveway. Do not place items on snow banks or on the roadway.
Collection requirements and restrictions
|
Review the following collection requirements and restrictions for the large item special collection service:
- All items must be properly and securely bagged, bundled or boxed. Each loose item is counted as one item toward the 12-item limit.
- Any items over the 12-item limit will not be collected if payment has not been received for the additional items.
- The maximum weight limit is 20 kg (44 lbs) per item. For some types of household furniture and appliances, the weight and dimension restrictions may be exempt.
- Cut carpet and underlay into widths not exceeding four feet, then roll and securely tie. Small quantities of no more than 6 rolls per collection will be accepted. Each roll will be counted as one item.
- Any waste items deemed to be unsafe for collection (oversized, overweight, hazardous, restricted or not properly prepared) will not be collected.
- Fridges and freezers must have contents removed before collection and doors should either be removed or securely duct taped closed to prevent them from opening.
- Toilet bowls must be separated and detached from tanks before collection. Toilets not separated from tanks will not be collected.
- Place materials to the curb in a way that does not obstruct pedestrian or vehicles.
- Please ensure all personal information is removed from e-waste prior to collection to protect privacy and security. The Town is not responsible for any data left on hard drives or memory devices.
- Construction or home renovation waste is not accepted in this program.
