Durham Regional Police Service is investigating a serious incident of antisemitic vandalism at Prince of Wales Park in Whitby.

On behalf of Whitby Council, I condemn this act of hate in the strongest possible terms.

The Town of Whitby embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion. We strive to make our town a place where everyone feels a sense of belonging and safety.

This incident is an attack on the values that define us as a community and will not be tolerated.

Town of Whitby staff have been dispatched to the park and will take immediate action to ensure the vandalism is covered until it can be repaired.  

The actions of a hateful few cannot and will not define us. It is critical that we stand united as a community against all forms of hate and intolerance.
