Town launches engagement as ice sports to relocate to other arenas.
The Town of Whitby’s Luther Vipond Memorial Arena (LVMA) located on Winchester Road East has served as a community gathering space for recreation and the iconic Brooklin Spring Fair since 1973.
While the facility grounds will continue to host the Brooklin Spring Fair, with the opening of a new twin-pad arena at the future Whitby Sports Complex on the horizon, ice sports like hockey will soon be moved out of the facility, making way for new community uses – and we want to hear from you!
Community engagement is an essential part of reimagining the future use of Luther Vipond. Which indoor recreational activities would you like to see prioritized for play in the space? Would you like to see more community events and programming at the facility? There are many ways to get involved and have your say:
1) Complete a brief survey by Monday, July 7.
2) Attend a Community Engagement Session in-person or virtually – visit connectwhitby.ca/LutherVipond for a list of dates and locations.
3) Visit our booth at the Brooklin Spring Fair taking place June 5 to 8 at Brooklin Memorial Park, just outside Luther Vipond Memorial Arena.
Help to shape the next chapter of this important community facility!
Feedback collected will help to inform Staff recommendations on the arena’s future use to be presented to Whitby Town Council later this year.
