The fire hall is located on a 3.44-acre parcel of land at the corner of Des Newman Boulevard and Rossland Road. The new Fire Station 6 is anticipated to open in 2027 and will help service continued growth in the community.
Today’s groundbreaking marks an important step forward in ensuring that our growing West Whitby community has the essential services it needs to thrive. Fire Station 6 will support faster emergency response times and is a key action item in Whitby’s Community Strategic Plan. This investment reflects our commitment to building strong, well-served neighbourhoods - and making sure that as Whitby grows, safety grows with us.
- Elizabeth Roy, Mayor, Town of Whitby
I’m deeply grateful for the support of the Mayor, Council, and our MPP in securing the land for our newest fire station. Breaking ground here today signals our commitment to our growing community. This new station will improve emergency response times, enable more coverage of our Town, and enhance public and firefighter safety across the area. These are exciting times for Whitby Fire and Emergency Services, and we remain committed to delivering exceptional service to our community.
- Michael Hickey, Fire Chief, Whitby Fire and Emergency Services
With West Whitby experiencing rapid growth, it's vital that our infrastructure keeps pace. That's why I was proud to advocate on behalf of the Town of Whitby to secure this critical parcel of land from the Ministry of Transportation with the assistance of the Honourable Prabmeet Singh Sarkaria, Minister of Transportation. The new West Whitby Fire Hall will not only enhance emergency response in one of our fastest-growing areas, it will also create jobs and strengthen community safety for years to come.
- Lorne Coe, MPP for Whitby, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Children, Community and Social Services and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence, and Security
