Today, Tuesday, January 12, the Ontario government announced a stay-at-home order and declared a second state of emergency for the province, in addition to further restrictions and enforcement under the current province-wide lockdown.
The stay-at-home order is effective as of this Thursday, January 14 at 12:01 a.m. The state of emergency is effective immediately and will be re-evaluated by the Province in 14 days.

All Town Facilities are Closed to the Public
On Monday, December 21, the Ontario government announced that the entire province – including the Town of Whitby – will move to a full shutdown effective as of 12:01 a.m. on Boxing Day, Saturday, December 26.
In Whitby, the new restrictions will remain in effect until Saturday, January 23, 2021. The Ontario government will reassess the need for continued shutdowns after that period. The current COVID-19 Response Framework will be paused...

On Friday, November 20, the Ontario government announced that municipalities within the Durham Region Public Health Unit – including the Town of Whitby – will move to the Red-Control Level of the provincial Keeping Ontario Safe and Open Framework.
