The Whitby Municipal Election will be held on October 26, 2026

Register to vote or update your information on the Voters' List

To add your name to the voters' list or update your information, please visit the Elections Ontario Portal. You will need one piece of ID that has both your name and Ontario home address.

Review and update your School Support Designation by June 1, 2026

School support designation helps property owners and tenants identify which school board they wish to support in a school board election and appropriately allocate school support funding to the board of choice. As per legislation, your school support defaults to the English Public school board. The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) manages school support designations. To learn more about school board designations and/or to change your school board designation, please visit mpac.ca/schoolsupport.

Apply to be a Member of the Joint Compliance Audit Committee by April 2, 2026

The Town of Whitby is participating in a Joint Compliance Audit Committee with local municipalities in Durham, the Durham District School Board, and the Region of Durham for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections. After the election, the Committee will hear requests for compliance audits of the financial statements submitted by candidates and registered third party advertisers. The committee will decide whether to order an audit of any financial statements to ensure that the campaign finance rules have been followed.

Learn about becoming a candidate or registered third party advertiser

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing is hosting Virtual Candidate Information Sessions on March 25, 2026 and April 14, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. for persons interested in running in the upcoming municipal election or registering as a third party advertiser. The sessions will feature a presentation from the Ministry followed by a question and answer period.
