Application process
Only selected candidates will be contacted for an interview as positions become available.
If you are contacted, you must be available for the wet interview date in order to proceed in the process. Dates will be provided when opportunities are posted. All required certifications must be current at the time of interview.
Required qualifications
Whether you are looking to become a lifeguard, instructor or pool coordinator, you must have the following qualifications. View our leadership programs for more information about how to obtain these qualifications.
Instructor and lifeguard qualifications
To be an instructor or lifeguard that work in our community pools, you are required to be:
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- At least 16 years of age or older at the time of application
You must also have completed the following certifications:
- Current Police Record Check - Vulnerable Sector Screening (at the time of offer)
- Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Certification
- Lifesaving and Emergency First Aid Instructor Certification
- Lifesaving Society N.L.S. (Pool) Certification
- Standard First Aid Certification
- C.P.R. (Level C) Certification, with A.E.D Training
Pool coordinator qualifications
To be a pool coordinator at our community pools, you are required to have completed all qualifications for the Instructor and Lifeguard positions as well as:
- Lifesaving Society Examiner Certification
