Before you begin a new building or renovating project in the Town of Whitby, make sure you have all of the necessary permits and approvals. Review the Zoning By-law and Property Standards to ensure that your project meets the necessary requirements.

Building complaints
Would you like to make a complaint about a building infraction?
You can contact us by email to file a complaint. You'll need to include the following details in your complaint:
- Your name
- Address
- Phone number
- Address of the complaint
- Specific details of the complaint
All personal information will remain confidential.
Complaint process
We will investigate all complaints. If the complaint is deemed invalid, the file will be closed and there will be no further action. If the complaint is deemed valid, staff will follow the appropriate departmental policies, procedures and practices to gain compliance.
