I am pleased to share that an independent investigation has been completed and confirms what I have maintained from the outset: no closed Council meeting was held on October 7 and no violation of the Municipal Act occurred.
This investigation was in response to allegations that I, along with other members of Council, convened what Regional Councillor Chris Leahy termed a “secret” Council meeting on October 7, 2024, in violation of the Municipal Act.

2024 has been a banner year for Whitby with an incredible amount accomplished thanks to the hard work of Town staff and Whitby Council, and continued engagement and support from our residents and stakeholders.
