Paying Property Taxes

There are a variety of ways to pay your property taxes in the Town of Whitby. Review our payment options and select the method that works for you. You can even set up a pre-authorized payment plan to make sure you never miss a payment date.

Pay at your bank or financial institution

You can pay with electronic or telephone banking through your financial institution or bank branch with a bank teller (please bring your tax bill with you to the branch) or at the ATM machine.

In order to pay online, you'll need to:

• Log in to your online banking
• Add "Whitby Taxes" or "Whitby, Ontario Taxes" as a payee
• Input the account number (roll number) located on your property tax bill (15 digit number) with no spaces or decimals

Once you've added the Town of Whitby as a payee, you'll be able to make property tax payments through your online banking. Many banks even allow you to set up a future dated payment so that you can arrange the payment(s) when you get your bills for the due dates so you don't forget.

To pay by phone, call your financial institution for more information.

Please remember when you sell your home that your roll number will stay with the property, so please remove the old payee to avoid paying taxes to your previous address.

Mail in your payment

You can pay your property taxes by sending your payment by mail:

Please make the cheque payable to the Town of Whitby, include your payment remittance stub and write your roll number on your cheque.

In-person payments

You can pay your property taxes in person at Town Hall located at 575 Rossland Rd. E. We're open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We accept debit, cash and cheque payments.

Drop boxes

If you're unable to drop off your payment during our regular hours, you can use one of two 24-hour drop boxes located outside the front of the Municipal Office. The boxes are located:

• Beside the front entrance
• Near the circle driveway

Please place a cheque for your property tax payment made payable to the “Town of Whitby” with your tax roll number and/or remittance stub into one of the drop boxes. Our drop boxes are secured and checked daily; however, we don't recommend placing cash in a drop box.

Post-dated cheques are accepted.

All cheques must be payable in Canadian Funds, and drawn from a Canadian Financial institution.
