Does my building require a fire safety plan?
Why do I need Fire Safety Plans?
Fire Safety Plans help keep everyone in the building safe during a fire emergency. The plan outlines how to properly evacuate all occupants and the responsibilities of the building owners, supervisory staff and employees that work in the building. A Fire Safety Plan should be designed to support the needs and resources of each individual building or complex of buildings.
Changes and approvals of Fire Safety Plans
The Chief Fire Official must approve your Fire Safety Plan. If changes are made to an existing Fire Safety Plan, you must submit your Plan for re-approval prior to implementing the changes. These changes can include:
- Use of building
- Occupancy type
- Floor plan layout
- Building owner/supervisory staff
