Cat and Dog Licences

The Town of Whitby has partnered with DocuPet to provide an enhanced and simple pet licensing experience for Whitby residents. The new, easy-to-use online licensing service provides a quick and seamless process to license your pet in Whitby.

In addition to your pet’s official licence, DocuPet also provides:

  • Full access to the HomeSafe™ 24/7 lost pet service. 
  • A selection of over 200 designer tag options that double as your pet’s official licence tag. 
  • A quick and easy online solution for purchasing and renewing your pet’s licence.

Purchase or renew a licence

You can purchase or renew a cat or dog licence online at whitby.docupet.com.

When you register your pet, you will receive a unique licence ID tag to attach to their collar. Our new licensing process with DocuPet allows residents to have the option to select a generic city-branded license tag at no additional charge or upgrade to one of DocuPet’s colourful designer tag styles for $15. Each DocuPet tag, generic or designer, doubles as a pet’s official license in Whitby. Furthermore, 20% of every designer tag purchased is donated to the Whitby Animal Services Centre.

  • Online - Pet owners may pay online using a VISA, Mastercard, American Express, or VISA Debit.
  • Phone - Pet owners may pay over the phone at 1-855-249-1370 using a VISA, Mastercard, American Express, or VISA Debit.
  • Mail - Pet owners may pay by mail via cheque or credit card. All cheques  must be made payable to DocuPet and should be sent directly to DocuPet at 2 Gore Street, Kingston ON, K7L 2L1. 

You can buy an animal licence in-person at the Whitby Animal Services Centre with Cash, Debit, Visa, or Mastercard.

Animal licence fees cover the costs of returning lost pets to their homes and finding adoptive families for many homeless pets each year.

The Whitby Animal Services Centre provides animal care and sheltering services for the Town. If your lost pet is found and cared for by Whitby Animal Services, you are required to purchase a pet license from DocuPet prior to us releasing your pet. 

 

Ren's Pets Depot voucher

When you purchase or renew your dog licence online, you get a $20 voucher from  Ren's Pets Depot Whitby. The voucher will be mailed to you along with your dog tag.

Bring the voucher and a printed copy of your emailed proof of payment to Ren's Pets Whitby. To redeem the voucher, you must sign up for the Ren's Rewards Program with the cashier if you aren't already a member.

The following terms and conditions apply to Ren's Pets Depot vouchers:

  • The voucher can be redeemed at the Ren's Pets Whitby location only.
  • Both printed pieces must be presented to the cashier at the time of purchase (printed proof of purchase and printer voucher card).
  • The customer must sign up for Ren's Rewards Program to validate the voucher.
  • The $20 amount must be used in full when presented, as there will be no residual value.
  • In-store vouchers can only be used once per dog per online purchase transaction receipt.
  • The Town of Whitby and Ren's Pets Depot will not be responsible for lost or stolen vouchers.
  • The Town of Whitby is providing vouchers on behalf of Ren's Pets Depot and expressly disclaims any representations regarding the content or accuracy of materials on the voucher.
  • The voucher is redeemable only for goods sold by Ren's Pets Depot (no cash value).
  • Ren's Pets Depot, not the Town of Whitby, is solely responsible for the redemption of the voucher.
  • The Town of Whitby may, at any time, stop providing promotional vouchers in relation to online dog licences.
