Roles and responsibilities
Our responsibilities include:
- Providing input into downtown development strategies
- Providing input about the Whitby Official Plan, Brooklin Secondary Plan and Community Improvement Plan
- Communicating between various downtown stakeholders
We're also responsible for implementing downtown development initiatives, including:
- Streetscape improvement
- Façade upgrades
- Parking, transportation and pedestrian circulation
- Downtown entrance and public open space treatment
- Marketing strategies
- Development and redevelopment opportunities
- Financial incentives and grants
- Programs and events
- Heritage initiatives
