Things to Do in Whitby This July 2026

Make the most of summer in Whitby this July with outdoor activities for everyone to enjoy. Here are just some of the many activities and events to take part in next month:

1.    Celebrate Canada Day

Celebrate Canada Day with an evening of family fun and fireworks at Victoria Fields on July 1. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. and include live music, family-friendly activities, and food trucks. Fireworks start at approximately 10 p.m. Should you choose to use your own fireworks, please be safe, responsible, and considerate of your neighbours. Fireworks are only permitted on Wednesday, July 1, from dusk to 11 p.m. and only on private property with the owner’s permission. Learn more at whitby.ca/CanadaDay.

2.    Attend the Home Sweet Home Festival 

Whitby’s award-winning Home Sweet Home Festival returns to the Downtown core on Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This free, pedestrian-only community event celebrates local culture, food, and family-friendly entertainment. Celebrate our home by exploring vibrant businesses, outdoor patios, the Whitby’s Farmers’ Market, Station Gallery’s Artisan Marketplace, cultural dances, performances, and family activities. whitby.ca/HomeSweetHomeFestival

3.    Enjoy the Sounds of Summer

Bring your friends, family, and lawn chairs to Sounds of Summer (formerly Music in the Park) to enjoy free performances on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at our NEW Celebration Square (405 Dundas Street West) location and Thursdays at 7 p.m. at Grass Park in Brooklin (41 Baldwin Street). 4. Outdoor Movie Nights are Back

Experience movie magic under the stars. Whitby’s Movies in the Park returns this summer with three exciting showings: Hoppers on July 17, Lilo & Stitch on August 14, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off on August 21. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and favourite snacks to Whitby Civic Park (575 Rossland Road East) where films begin at dusk on a giant outdoor screen with concert‑quality sound. 5. Enjoy Guided Walking Food Tours

Explore our community’s thriving culinary scene and connect with other foodies through Guided Walking Food Tours in Downtown Whitby. 6. Visit the Whitby and Brooklin Farmers’ Markets

Summer markets are back. The Whitby Farmers’ Market and the Brooklin Farmers’ Market run weekly now through October. Expect local produce, baking, handmade goods, and more. Details: WhitbyFarmersMarket.ca.

 7.  Attend A Culture Pop-Up

Come down to the Whitby waterfront for exciting Culture Pop-up events happening this July:

  • Boots & Beats on Wednesday, July 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. – put on your cowboy boots and enjoy an evening of country music, line dancing, and fun on the waterfront. Follow along with a guided dance demonstration and join the crowd on the dance floor.
  • Waterfront Wellness on Wednesday, July 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. - led by Bohemian Bliss Yoga, this pop-up offers a gentle outdoor yoga session suitable for all levels. Set against the waterfront, participants will enjoy breathwork, relaxation, and a restorative sound bath meditation.
  • Soca on the Shore on Wednesday, August 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. - move to the infectious rhythms of the Caribbean with Chris from Fire 10 Entertainment. Featuring Soca cardio and playful moments like limbo and follow the leader, event is all about sunshine, movement, joy, and feel‑good vibes.

8. Attend the Whitby Ribfest

Whitby Ribfest returns July 10 to 12 with a full weekend of mouthwatering eats, live entertainment, and family fun at Victoria Fields. This year’s event kicks off Friday with two ways to join in: a free public rib zone featuring food, vendors, and a bar, plus a special ticketed concert zone headlined by The Trews. Saturday and Sunday are free to attend, with donations appreciated in support of local Rotary Club causes. Come hungry and enjoy award-winning ribs, midway rides and games, local vendors, and a lively community atmosphere. Learn more: WhitbyRibfest.com.
