CAO Statement Regarding October 7th Council MeetingMatt Gaskell, the Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Whitby has released the following statement in response to false allegations and misinformation that was released today by a member of Whitby Town Council:
During the October 7th Council meeting, Council took a brief recess when Councillor Leahy refused to apologize or leave the meeting after making comments about members of Council which were considered inappropriate. Recessing a meeting when passions are running high to allow time.

Update: Mayor Roy Statement Regarding Early Adjournment of October 7 Council MeetingWhitby Mayor Elizabeth Roy has issued the following statement in response to false allegations that she called a “secret meeting”
I am deeply disappointed by the baseless and reckless allegations made by Councillor Chris Leahy falsely accusing me of holding a secret meeting in violation of the Municipal Act.
Let me be absolutely clear: no such meeting took place.

Town Opens A New Cricket Field At Jeffery ParkA permanent cricket field is now open at Jeffery Park (220 Jeffery Street)! It features an artificial turf pitch and fresh line markings for the community and cricket leagues to enjoy.
The popularity of cricket has been growing in Whitby in recent years.

As part of my commitment to keeping residents informed, I wanted to share that we have just been advised that Audmax will not be proceeding with their proposed halfway house on Lupin Drive in Whitby. Correctional Service of Canada has been advised the same.

Waterfront Trail Closure from Forbes Street to Boundary Road Begins September 3Whitby, August 13, 2024 – Residents are advised of an upcoming multi-month closure to the Whitby Waterfront Trail between Forbes Street and Boundary Road (Intrepid Park).
Effective Tuesday, September 3 the trail will close to the public so it can be widened.
