Whitby Mayor Urges Residents to Share Feedback with Infrastructure Ontario on Proposed Transit-Oriented Community at Whitby GO Station
I strongly encourage residents to share their feedback with Infrastructure Ontario on a proposal for a Transit-Oriented Community at Whitby GO Station.
This proposal has generated significant interest in our community, and I share many of the concerns residents have raised about the potential impacts of a development of this scale.
Infrastructure Ontario is seeking feedback through an online survey, which is open until Aug. 21.
It’s important to note that the province is responsible for the planning and consultation for this project – not the Town of Whitby.
However, I continue to advocate for this proposal to follow the standard Planning Act process, including meaningful opportunities for public input.
Whitby residents deserve the opportunity to have their voices heard through a statutory public meeting.
I will also be advocating strongly for the healthcare, schools, and other infrastructure needed to support a development of this scale. That includes moving forward with the next steps needed to deliver the new hospital planned for Whitby.
I support building more homes and creating more housing options in our community. But successful growth means building complete communities where people have access to the services and infrastructure they need to thrive.
