Vacant Downtown Whitby Buildings Scheduled for Demolition

Residents and businesses are advised that in mid-September, weather permitting, work will begin to remove a group of vacant buildings in Downtown Whitby.

The buildings to be demolished are located at 128 Brock Street South and 132-146 Brock Street North. By undertaking both projects at the same, the work can be completed in 12 weeks.

The immediate priority is to prepare part of the 132-146 Brock Street North site for temporary paid parking to help address current downtown parking demand and support local businesses and visitors. The Town continues to explore a range of possibilities for the properties’ long-term use.

• Work will be staged to help reduce disruption in the downtown core.

• Residents and businesses can expect some noise, dust, construction traffic, and occasional sidewalk closures during the work.
