Fieldgate Sports Complex Now Open

On September 12, the Fieldgate Sports Complex officially opened its doors to a large crowd, welcoming residents for a free, family-friendly day of sports, recreation and community celebration.

The complex is a multi-purpose gathering space that supports inclusive sport, recreation and community programming, providing a place where residents can connect, play, learn and stay active.

The facility features a wide range of amenities, including a 25-metre pool, twin-pad arena, multi-purpose gymnasium, community and program spaces, and more. Outdoors, residents can enjoy pickleball, tennis and basketball courts, a skatepark, a pump track, and park spaces designed to support active lifestyles and community connection.

Fall Drop in Programs at Fieldgate Sports Complex

We offer a variety of drop-in programs for all ages and skill levels. Get active and have fun with family and friends in a non-competitive community environment. Our drop-in programs are supervised, but are not coached or instructed. For more information on offerings and drop in program descriptions please visit the pages below.

Fieldgate Sports Complex Walking Track Fees and Memberships

  • The indoor walking track above the gymnasium is open daily 7:30 am - 9:00 pm.
  • A valid walking track membership or day pass is required for entry.
  • Please follow the posted rules of etiquette

All Whitby Civic Recreation Complex Health Club memberships include access to the walking track. All Swim, Skate Walk passes include access to the walking track

Walking Track Etiquette

1. Walking only.

2. Follow the posted direction of travel and pass on the outside lane.

3. Users must be 13 years of age or older. Children 12 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult and remain within arm's reach at all times.

4. A valid membership or day pass is required.

5. Clean indoor athletic footwear and appropriate athletic attire are required.

6. Water is permitted in sealed, non-glass containers only.

7. Food is not permitted on the track.

8. Walking poles with rubber tips are permitted. No other equipment is allowed.

8. Bags, coats, strollers, and personal belongings are not permitted on the track.

9. Spectating, photography, video recording are not permitted on the track.

10. Headphones or earbuds are required when listening to music or watching videos.

11. Be courteous and respectful of other users.

12. Town staff reserve the right to enforce track rules and address unsafe or inappropriate behaviour.

13. Users participate at their own risk.

8 laps = 1 km

Community spaces and Facility Permits

  • Two meeting rooms, a community room and the double gymnasium are available to rent for meetings , activities and events. 
  • Ice rentals are available for the 2026/2027 season. Ice will be available for permitting as of September 13, 2026.
  • Turf Sports Field rental requests are open for the 2027 outdoor season
  • Court rentals (Pickleball, Tennis) rental requests are open for the 2027 outdoor season

How to Get Here and Where to Park

Parking is available on site at 2 Gathering Place, in our West and Central parking lots, including accessible spaces and EV charging stations. For bus riders, use Durham Transit Routes 302 and 304
