Enjoy Whitby This May - Brewery Tour, Markets, and More
May is a vibrant month in Whitby — patios start to fill, residents are out enjoying parks, and the community calendar fills up with fun outdoor events. This month’s lineup includes the return of the farmers’ market at Celebration Square, Rotary’s two-day Food Truck Frenzy in Iroquois Park, and plenty of reasons to wander downtown and beyond.
Here are seven ways to make the most of May in Whitby:
1. Explore Local Breweries
If you’re looking to swap the usual dinner-and-a-movie routine for something different, Whitby’s brewery scene offers a great way to spend an afternoon or evening. The Town has a new self-guided Brewery Passport that makes it easy to pop in for a flight or plan a pub crawl with friends. It takes you through all five of Whitby’s local breweries, inviting you to dine in, enjoy a menu item of your choice, and collect stamps along the way. Complete your passport, submit your photo, and you’ll be entered to win a Whitby brewery prize pack. Don’t drink and drive; plan ahead to get home safely. For more information, visit whitby.ca/BrewPass.
2. Visit the Farmers’ Market
The Whitby Farmers’ Market opens its 2026 season on Wednesday, May 13, running Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Celebration Square (in front of the Whitby Public Library). The Brooklin Farmers’ Market follows on Saturday, June 13, with markets every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through October. Pick up your local favourites, including fresh produce, baked, and handmade goods. WhitbyFarmersMarket.ca.
3. Attend Food Truck Frenzy
The Rotary Club of Whitby is holding Food Truck Frenzy at Iroquois Park Sports Complex (500 Victoria St. W.) on Saturday, May 30 (11 a.m. to 9 p.m.) and Sunday, May 31 (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.). Organizers are promising more than 30 food trucks, along with a Makers Market and a kids’ zone. Admission is $5, with children 14 and under free; proceeds go toward community initiatives. whitby.ca/Calendar.
4. Get Ready for Summer Program Registration
If your summer plans include swimming lessons or recreation programs, it’s worth getting your Wish List ready early. Build it starting Wednesday, May 20. Swimming lessons open for resident registration on June 2 at 9 a.m., and summer recreation programs open June 4 at 9 a.m. Non-residents can register for programs starting June 10 at 9 a.m. An online account is required to register for activities. Create an individual or family account in person at a Recreation Customer Service Desk. For accounts with a Whitby address, photo ID and address verification is required. For more information, visit whitby.ca/Register.
5. Walk Whitby’s Arts Trail
Whitby’s Arts Trail is a great way to enjoy a weekend walk — part scavenger hunt, part outdoor gallery. Explore some of our latest works like Spirit of the Lake by Tessa Shank down at the Whitby Waterfront and enjoy murals by local artists that are scattered across town. The trail also points visitors toward galleries, studios, and maker shops. For more information, visit whitby.ca/Culture.
6. Begin Your Next Local Adventure at the Visitor Centre
