Donations Now Being Accepted for Hunger Action Month Across Durham Region
Donate non-perishable food at participating facilities or give online from September 9 to October 5.
Durham Region municipalities are once again coming together for Hunger Action Month, and donations are now being accepted to help fight hunger in the community.
From September 9 to October 5, residents, businesses, and community groups can support the campaign by donating non-perishable food at participating locations across Durham or by making a monetary donation online.
The need across Durham remains significant. Over 880,000 visits were made to a food program in Feed the Need in Durham’s (FTND) network of 70 community food programs last year – an increase of nearly 350 per cent since 2020. Of these, 9,500 visitors were people who had never visited a FTND food bank before, highlighting the increasingly important role emergency food support continues to play across the region.
