How to Start a Community Garden?

If you're interested in starting a Community Garden please contact info@durhamdigs.ca to attend the next information session.

What is a Community Garden?

A community garden is a shared green space where people come together to grow fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers. Community gardening promotes positive social interactions, contributes to community development and has a positive impact on our natural environment.

Community Gardens on Town (owned or leased) land

The Town of Whitby supports Community Gardens on Town (owned and leased) lands in partnership with Community Groups in order to encourage community engagement and healthy living. The Town currently does not have any Community Gardens on Town (owned or leased) land. Town Staff will work closely with a Community Group interested in establishing a Community Garden.
