We offer a wide variety of year-round recreation programs to keep you and your family members active and engaged. From ice skating to fitness, yoga, pilates, drop-in sports, swimming and aquafit classes, camps, programs for seniors and more, there is a program for everyone to get involved in.
You must observe and follow COVID-19 public health and safety protocols when participating in Town programs.
Scheduled program times may be cancelled to accommodate a special event or because the facility is unavailable. We issue program notices of cancellations at least three weeks prior to the date.
Some of our recreation programs are supported by volunteers, such as Community Connection or other subsidized programs that provide funding and access for residents. Learn more about each program.
We are dedicated to keeping participants and staff safe by increasing awareness of concussions and helping properly manage people with suspected and diagnosed concussions. Contact us to view an accessible version of our Concussion Policy.
What is a concussion? |
A concussion is a brain injury that causes changes in how the brain functions, leading to symptoms that can be physical (ex. headache, dizziness), cognitive (ex. difficulty concentrating or remembering), emotional/behavioural (ex. depression, irritability) and/or related to sleep (drowsiness, difficulty falling asleep). |
What causes a concussion? |
A concussion may be caused by either a direct blow to the head, face or neck. It can also be caused by a blow to the body that transmits force to the head that causes the brain to move rapidly within the skull. Most concussions can occur even if you don't lose consciousness. Concussions can be seen on x-rays. |
Who is susceptible? |
Young people, due to still growing, adolescent brains, are most susceptible, and take longer to recover than adults. Without identifying a concussion and managing it properly, it can lead to permanent brain damage and in rare cases death. |
