Family Physician Recruitment Incentive Partnership Program
Access to family doctors is one of the top priorities for Whitby residents. To help meet this urgent need, the Town of Whitby has launched the Family Physician Recruitment Incentive Partnership Program — and we’re inviting local medical clinics to participate.
Why Participate?
- Significant need: Thousands of Whitby and Durham Region residents are currently without a family physician.
- Community-backed initiative: Physician recruitment was identified as a top priority in Whitby’s Community Strategic Plan.
- Make a difference: Help address a local health care gap while growing your clinic’s patient base.
Program Details
- Up to 10 new family physicians will be recruited through the program.
- Each eligible physician is eligible for a $50,000 incentive, paid over five years.
- The incentive is cost-shared equally between the Town and participating clinics.
- Clinics must enter into a formal partnership agreement with the Town and meet criteria related to:
- Patient roster support
- Service delivery standards
The program currently supports recruitment efforts at the Whitby Health Centre, in partnership with the Oshawa Clinic Group, with the potential to expand to other local clinics.
