Family Doctors
By 2051, the Region’s population is projected to reach 1.3 million. This provincially mandated growth brings an urgent need for expanded infrastructure, increased access to family doctors, and enhanced mental health support. According to the Ontario College of Family Physicians, nearly 15 per cent of Ontarians do not have access to a regular family physician.
Through public engagement on the Community Strategic Plan, residents identified access to family physicians as a top priority. As a result, the Town has committed to Action Item 1.1.6 under Pillar 2: Whitby’s Natural and Built Environment — “Work with partners to increase access to family physicians.”
