Group Home Applications

In order to operate a group home in the Town of Whitby, you must have a licence.

A Group Home means a house where 3 to 10 people live together and get supervision and support because of their emotional, mental, social, or physical needs, or because of their legal situation.

The home is licensed or funded by the government and is meant to help the people who live there stay safe and healthy.

A group home is not the same as a crisis residence, boarding or lodging house, nursing home, home for the aged, or retirement home

Apply for a licence

Complete the Group Home licence application and submit it to the By-law Services Division. Application processing takes five to 10 business days.

In your application, you'll need to include a letter from the government agency responsible for the funding or licensing of the group home. This will confirm that the home is licenced and approved for funding under provincial law.

Fees

The fee to submit a group home business licence application is $150.00.
