Partnering for impact
Strong partnerships are helping Whitby achieve more — faster. By working with community organizations, businesses, and other levels of government, the Town is leveraging collective expertise and resources to deliver shared results. Highlights include:

Healthcare: Partnering with Lakeridge Health and the Province of Ontario to bring a new hospital to Whitby and more family physicians to the community.

Food security: Launching “The Market” at Iroquois Park Sports Centre with Feed the Need in Durham, providing fresh, healthy food to those in need in a welcoming environment.

More Housing Options: Working with Habitat For Humanity GTA and other community partners to introduce more housing options that support residents in need and diversify local housing options.

Economic Development: Collaborating with local business leaders, innovation hubs, and post-secondary institutions to attract jobs and investment.
Finding innovative funding solutions
Grants and other alternative funding sources are helping Whitby to maximize value to deliver community priorities, while remaining fiscally responsible. Highlights include:

Tourism and Economic Growth: Introducing a new Municipal Accommodation Tax to help fund tourism-related initiatives, supporting local events, attractions, and economic activity that benefit both residents and visitors.

Quality infrastructure: Securing provincial and federal grants to help deliver quality infrastructure projects more quickly and efficiently, including the Columbus Road expansion and Whitby Sports Complex projects.
Maximizing efficiencies to make every dollar count
As Whitby grows, the Town is continuing to focus on efficiency, innovation, and continuous improvement — ensuring high-quality services are delivered in the most cost-effective way. Highlights include:

Digital Transformation: Expanding online services and automating processes to save time and improve the resident experience. This includes leveraging the Housing Accelerator Fund grant to move building permits online, making it easier for residents and businesses to apply, track, and complete projects.

Service and Process Reviews: Regularly reviewing programs to identify opportunities for savings and service enhancements. In a recent report, Town staff identified 77 ways to cut costs or save dollars across key service areas, contributing to long-term financial sustainability.

Sustainability and Energy Efficiency: Designing and maintaining infrastructure like the Whitby Sports Complex to reduce long-term operating costs.
