Town of Whitby Announces Interim Fire Chief

Today, March 3, the Town of Whitby announced that effective Monday, March 16, 2026, Mark Pankhurst will assume the role of Interim Fire Chief for Whitby Fire and Emergency Services. 

Mark has more than 30 years of experience in fire services, leading and guiding several fire teams. He has worked as both a Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chief in Ajax, Kawartha Lakes, and Rama. He has also worked at the provincial level as a Fire Services Liaison with the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs. 

The recruitment process for a permanent Fire Chief is underway, and the Town will provide updates as more information becomes available.
