Town Launches Smart Road Inspection Tool to Improve Roads

StreetScan is coming to your Whitby neighbourhood

Keep an eye out for a new car driving through Whitby from June 24 to July 4. Called StreetScan, it’s packed with high-tech radar and sensors that scan the road without disrupting traffic.

StreetScan collects real-time data on things like potholes, cracks, and surface wear on roads. The goal is to help the Town make informed decisions about road repairs.

The information collected will help the Town decide which roads need repairs most, so maintenance can be done at the right time, in the right places, in a cost-effective way. This project is part of Whitby’s ongoing efforts to use technology to plan better and get the most value for residents.
