Interim Tax Billing for 2026 Due on April 30

Residents are reminded the second instalment of the 2026 Interim Tax Billing is due on Thursday, April 30, 2026. This billing applies to all properties in the Town of Whitby. You have the option to sign up for e-billing for property taxes and receive regular tax bills via email. Visit whitby.ca/ebilling to sign up using the access code found on your property tax bill.

The interim tax bills were sent to property owners at the end of January 2026. If you did not receive a tax bill and you are responsible for payment, please contact the Tax Division to obtain the necessary information. If your tax account is enrolled in the monthly Pre-Authorized Payment plan or if a Financial Institution pays your taxes on your behalf, you will not receive an interim property tax bill, only the final bill in May.

2026 Property Tax Due Dates

New in 2026: Property tax interim and final payments will be due on the last business day of February, April, June, and September. This change is designed to provide residents with greater convenience when paying property taxes.

Why the due date has been extended:

·       To give taxpayers additional time and flexibility to make their payments

·       To better accommodate in-person payments at Town Hall

·       To allow extra processing time for payments made through banks or by mail

·       To support residents by offering extended Town Hall hours around key payment dates

Extended Town Hall hours (April due date):

·       Wednesday, April 29: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

·       Thursday, April 30: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Please remember that your payment MUST be received by the Town by the due date to avoid late payment fees. The Town offers tax rebate and relief programs to help you pay your property taxes on time. Learn more and see if you qualify at whitby.ca/Tax.

Please note that payments not received by Thursday, April 30, 2026. are subject to a penalty charge of 1.25 per cent on the first day of default and the first day of each calendar month so long as non-payment continues.

1.    By pre-authorized payment plan: visit whitby.ca or call Town Hall at the number below for more information.

2.    By internet or telephone banking: inquire at your financial institution. It is the property owner’s responsibility to ensure the correct information, including the roll number, is used for these transactions. The Town is not responsible for any payments made in error by the taxpayer and there will be a fee to correct any payments.

3.    At participating financial institutions: a payment stub is required if paying at a financial institution. Please remember to allow sufficient time for processing between the bank and Town Hall to avoid any penalty. Payments must be received by the Town on or before the due date.

4.    By mail: address payment to the Town of Whitby, Tax Division, 575 Rossland Road East, Whitby, Ontario, L1N 2M8. When mailing payment, the taxpayer assumes responsibility for late arrival of payment and any late payment fees that may apply. Post-dated cheques are acceptable.

5.    By cash, cheque or debit in person: at Town Hall, 575 Rossland Road East, Whitby. Post-dated cheques are acceptable (please bring your tax bill so staff can stamp the bill for your official receipt).

6.    After hours ‘outside’ mail slot at the above address: Do not deposit cash. Post-dated cheques are acceptable.

If paying by cheque, please make cheque payable to the Town of Whitby and write the property tax roll number(s) on the front of the cheque. All cheques that are not honoured by a financial institution, for any reason, will be subject to an administration fee.

Note: All payments must be in Canadian funds and drawn from a Canadian Financial Institution.
