Holiday Season – What’s Open And Closed
With the holidays approaching, here’s a look at what Town amenities and services are open or closed.
Holiday Service Changes
Town Hall and the Garden Street Branch in-person and phone services will close at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23 and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, December 29.
Recreation Facilities
The Whitby Civic Recreation Complex will be open until 12 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24. There will be no swimming lessons. All other Town recreation facilities will be closed on Wednesday, December 24, reopening on Saturday, December 27.
Whitby Public Library
All Whitby Public Library locations will be closed on Wednesday, December 24, reopening on Saturday, December 27. Book returns remain open and digital content is available 24/7 at WhitbyLibrary.ca
New Year’s Facility Closure
On Wednesday, December 31, the Whitby Civic Recreation Complex will close at 12 p.m. and the Iroquois Park Sports Centre will close at 4 p.m. The Brooklin Community Centre will be closed, however the Library there will stay open until 5 p.m.
All Town Facilities and the Whitby Public Library will be closed on Thursday, January 1.
Anne Ottenbrite to Close for Pool Maintenance
Anne Ottenbrite Pool located at Iroquois Park Sports Centre will be closed from Monday, December 29 through Sunday, January 11 for maintenance. Aquatic programs will be cancelled during this time and there will be no access to the pool. Regular programming will resume on Monday, January 12. Waste Collection
Due to the holidays, there will be no waste collection service on Thursday, December 25, and Thursday, January 1. Collections scheduled for December 25, 26, and 27 and January 1, 2, and 3 will be bumped by one day from your regular pick-up day.
Christmas Tree Collection
Christmas Trees will be collected in blue (odd numbered) collection areas from January 12 to 16 and yellow (even numbered) collection areas from January 19 to 23. Please clean natural Christmas trees of any tinsel, decorations, wire, stands or bags, and cut trees longer than 3 metres (10 feet) in half. The Town can’t collect trees that are frozen in snowbanks.
