Each year, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day are commemorated on September 30. The Town of Whitby encourages residents and its employees to learn and reflect on the history of residential schools in Canada, and their commitment to truth and reconciliation.

Please be advised that there is a power outage affecting Iroquois Park Sports Centre and the Port Whitby Marina.

All drop-in skate and swim programs are cancelled until further notice.

Earlier this morning (on June 11), while McKinney Centre was shut down for regular maintenance, a chemical leak was identified by staff in the building

Out of an abundance of caution, residents may have noticed emergency personnel onsite earlier while the situation was addressed.

As previously planned, McKinney Centre is currently closed and will reopen as planned at 4 p.

Next municipal election to take place in October 2026

On May 26, Whitby Council voted to change the way the Town elects its four regional councillors—from the current at-large system to election by ward. The change would see one regional councillor elected from each of the Town’s May 28, 2025
