What’s On: Events & Festivals  

Kick off summer in Whitby with Sounds of Summer, where music lovers can enjoy evenings filled with live entertainment on Tuesdays in Downtown Whitby’s Celebration Square from June 23 to August 18 and on Thursdays in Downtown Brooklin’s Grass Park from July 2 to August 20.  

Cultural experiences continue with the Culture Pop-Up Series at Rotary Sunrise Lake Park, featuring Rhythms of Africa on June 24, Boots and Beats on July 15, Waterfront Wellness on July 29, and Soca on the Shore on August 19.  

Celebrate Canada in style with Durham Region’s largest fireworks display lighting up the sky over Victoria Fields on July 1 for Canada Day Fireworks, then savour music, food, and family fun at the Whitby Rotary Ribfest from July 10 to 12.  

Community spirit continues to shine for the second year of the Home Sweet Home Festival in Downtown Whitby on July 25. Winner of Best New Event by Festival and Events Ontario, Home Sweet Home is full of live entertainment and cultural performances, an Artisan Marketplace and Whitby Farmers’ Market, historic walking tours, Lynde House Museum activities, outdoor Patio’s, Downtown Whitby BIA business specials, a family zone including a 250-foot zipline and more! 

Complete your event checklist with Movies in the Park at Whitby Civic Park. Enjoy evenings under the stars with Hoppers on July 17, Lilo & Stitch on August 14, and the flashback Friday film on August 21. 

Outdoor Adventures & Wellness Experiences  

Make the most of Whitby’s natural beauty with kayak rentals from Illuminated Escapes, located near the Whitby Visitor’s Centre. For an unforgettable outing, try a glow-in-the-dark sunset kayak ride. Enjoy beer and fresh pizza outside at the Pump House in Whitby’s Rotary Sunrise Lake Park. 

Nature lovers will enjoy exploring scenic outdoor spaces such as Heber Down Conservation Area and Lynde Shores Conservation Area, while seasonal highlights include a visit to B’More Farm’s Sunflower experience and Wild Blue Acres Farmstead for its beautiful lavender fields.

For a fun social outing, Brushes & Beverages Paint Nights are available for adults (19+) on June 25 and August 6, for teens aged 13 to 18 on August 20, and for families ages 8+ on August 29. 

Step back in time with a visit to the Lynde House Museum, where Whitby’s rich history comes to life through stories, exhibits, and local heritage. Shop for local goods and crafts on site at the Warren General Store.
