2022 Municipal Elections Compliance Audit Committee

Compliance Audit Committees are required by the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 to consider all applications and reports with respect to alleged and apparent contraventions of the financial provisions of the Municipal Elections Act.

After the election, the committee will hear applications for compliance audits of the financial statements submitted by candidates and registered third party advertisers and consider reports submitted by the Town Clerk. The committee will decide whether to order an audit of any financial statements to ensure that campaign finance rules have been followed.

The Town of Whitby committed to make the 2022 Municipal Election accessible by understanding and accommodating the needs of electors with disabilities and through the removal of barriers to vote. We are committed to ensuring that all legislative requirements set out in the Municipal Elections Act and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act are met or exceeded.

In accordance with the Municipal Elections Act the Clerk shall prepare a plan regarding the identification, removal and prevention of barriers that affect electors and candidates with disabilities and shall make the plan available to the public before voting day in a regular election.

In accordance with Section 12.1(3) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, the Clerk shall prepare a report about the identification, removal and prevention of barriers that affect electors and candidates with disabilities and shall make the report available to the public within 90 days after voting day in a regular election.
