Building Complaints



All complaints, including emails, must contain the complainant's name, address and phone number prior to a complaint being generated. Please note that all personal information about complaints is kept in the strictest of confidence.

Filing a Complaint

Should you wish to file a complaint regarding a building contravention, please contact us by phone, email or complete the Building Services Online Complaint Form.

Complaint Process

Once a complaint has been generated it is assigned to a Building Inspector or Plumbing Inspector to inspect and investigate. At the conclusion of the initial inspection, staff will determine if the complaint is valid and if a contravention exists. If the complaint is deemed to be not valid, the file will be closed and no further action will be taken. If the complaint is deemed valid, staff will follow the appropriate departmental policies, procedures, and practices to gain compliance.
