The Town of Whitby’s proposed 2023 Budget is now available on ConnectWhitby.ca/Budget.

This proposed budget reflects a 6 per cent budget increase to maintain essential service delivery and plan for growth. This represents a 2 per cent increase on the overall residential bill for Town services or approximately 32 cents per day, per household* for the delivery of important services residents rely on every day, like waste collection, snow clearing and parks maintenance. As part of the 2023 Budget approval process, Whitby Town Council will also be considering the financial impacts of several decision items, including the Bill 23 Provincial Housing Tax.

As an important part of the budget process, we invite you to take part in the following upcoming opportunities to provide feedback on the proposed budget:

Virtual 2023 Budget Forum

When: open now through February 8, 2023
Where: online at ConnectWhitby.ca/Budget
What: Residents can go online and share their thoughts and feedback on the budget at any time that is convenient for them

Budget Public Meeting

When: Monday, February 6, 2023, 7 p.m.
Where: Attend the meeting in-person at Whitby Council Chambers or tune in online at whitby.ca/CouncilCalendar
What: Residents will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed 2023 Budget prior to Council consideration and approval on Thursday, February 16. Residents interested in speaking at the Budget Public Meeting virtually or in-person are required to register with the Town Clerk by 12 p.m. the day of the meeting (Monday, February 6). Delegation Forms are available online at whitby.ca/delegation. Residents interested in attending the meeting online must also complete a Delegation Form.

Special Council Meeting (final approval of the proposed 2023 Budget)

When: Thursday, February 16, 2023, 7 p.m.
Where: Attend the meeting in-person at Whitby Council Chambers or tune in online at whitby.ca/CouncilCalendar
What: Residents interested in speaking at the Special Council Meeting virtually or in-person are required to register with the Town Clerk by 12 p.m. the day of the meeting (Thursday, February 16). Delegation Forms are available online at whitby.ca/delegation. Residents interested in attending the meeting online must also complete a Delegation Form.
