With Canada Day on July 1, here’s a look at what Town amenities and services are open or closed over the holiday period and how you can celebrate!
Join us at Victoria Fields Park on July 1 starting at 6:30 p.m. for live music, food trucks and fireworks at dusk (10 p.m.) We hope you can join us. If you plan to use your own fireworks, remember they are only permitted on Friday, July 1 on private property from dusk until 11 p.m. Be safe, responsible, and considerate of your neighbours. Learn more at whitby.ca/CanadaDay.
The Town’s splash pads, parks, trails and many other outdoor recreation facilities are open. When visiting please do your part to keep these spaces clean - pick up after pets and use garbage cans, or take waste home with you. If you are planning on having a BBQ in the park during the long weekend, remember barbecue use is only allowed in rentable picnic areas and shelters when you have a facility rental permit. Be sure to book before you arrive. For a complete list of outdoor amenities available to enjoy this Canada Day, visit whitby.ca/parks.
Town Hall will close at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 4. All of the Town’s indoor Recreation facilities will be closed on Friday, July 1.
All Whitby Public Library locations will be closed on Friday, July 1. Visit whitbylibrary.ca for access to digital content and program information.
There is no waste collection service on Friday, July 1. Starting Friday, July 1, garbage and green bin collection has been moved forward one day after your regular pick up day. To confirm your collection pick-up day, check the waste collection calendar or download the Whitby Waste Buddy app.
Have a happy Canada Day, Whitby!
