Rogers Hometown Hockey makes its way to Iroquois Park Sports Centre in Whitby, Ontario on December 28 and 29 and you can expect a great weekend of FREE hockey-related activities, NHL Alumni appearances, music, and fun for the whole family!

Join Ron MacLean and Tara Slone LIVE on site on Sunday, December 29, for an outdoor viewing party as they tell the stories that celebrate the hockey history and culture that put Whitby on Canada’s hockey map. Stick around to catch the Florida Panthers take on the Montreal Canadians from the Sportsnet Mobile Studio.

 Saturday, December 28

ROGERS HOMETOWN HOCKEY TOUR 

Iroquois Park Sports Centre - 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

This is an outdoor event.

Rogers Fan Hub: Fill out your Fan Profile for a chance to win exclusive Rogers Moments, enjoy autograph signings with NHL alumni, test your stickhandling with the Infinite Dangles challenge, and grab some free popcorn.

Sportsnet Shooting Accuracy Game: Players of all ages can show off their hockey skills and see how they match up to NHL stars and alumni with fantastic prizes to be won!

Steve Goodtime Rockin’ Hockey Show: Come see Steve Goodtime, our world-renowned hockey acrobat! Steve performs his incredible family-friendly rock n’ roll hockey show packed with fire, juggling, stunts, and guitar solos.

Scotiabank Community Hockey Rink: A family-friendly outdoor hockey space designed to engage hockey fans who can interact with NHL alumni and celebrate the game.

Hyundai Drives Hockey: Hyundai displays will feature games and challenges for kids and parents alike. Fans will have the chance to win on-site giveaways, weekend prizes as well as an overall grand prize for the season.

Dr. Oetker Giuseppe Pizzeria: Fans can enjoy a complimentary slice of Giuseppe Pizzeria pizza fresh out of the oven, and learn more about the Find Giuseppe contest with many great prizes to be won!

Playmobil Kids Zone: Fans have the chance to face off against friends and family with the PLAYMOBIL NHL Arena and its lineup of NHL figures. In the zone, fans will also be able to enter to win an NHL playset.

Sobeys Community Barbeque: Sobeys is proud to support an onsite Community Barbeque. All funds raised this weekend will go towards supporting the Whitby Minor Hockey Association.

Live Local Entertainment: Live music will be featured throughout the weekend. Stay tuned for full schedule.

FREE COMMUNITY SKATES & ACTIVITIES

12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Don’t forget your skates when you visit Rogers Hometown Hockey. IPSC will be open for free family skates from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. On your way in, check out the great smile opportunities, ice carvings and the Whitby Comfort Zone.

Community Events

Community Kick Off Event

Get in the spirit of Rogers Hometown Hockey and help us kick-off the event with a free Family Skate on Sunday, November 24 from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McKinney Arena or from 2 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Iroquois Park Sports Centre. These community events will include giveaways, refreshments, fun photos and more!

Parade of Champions

The Parade of Champions will take place on Sunday, December 29, right before the Rogers Hometown Hockey Pre-Game Broadcast with Ron MacLean and Tara Slone live on Sportsnet. Teams will be filmed marching through the festival site and towards the Sportsnet Mobile Studio. Show your team and club spirit by wearing your team jersey and making signs!

Paint the Town Red Contest

Get in the spirit of Rogers Hometown Hockey and win! On Thursday, November 14 we will be kicking off the “Paint the Town Red” contest. Businesses, schools, minor hockey teams and community members are encouraged to decorate windows, storefronts or their lawns with a red Hometown Hockey theme. Register online, then simply snap a photo and share it on Facebook or Twitter tagging Town of Whitby (@TownofWhitby) and Rogers Hometown Hockey (@hometownhockey_) and using the hashtag #whitbyhometownhockey.

The contest begins Thursday, November 14. Deadline for entries is Monday, December 16. Judging takes place on Wednesday, December 18 and winners will be announced on the Town's social media.

You could win an exclusive Rogers Hometown Hockey on-site experience, a Rogers Hometown Hockey prize pack, as well as social media shares from the official Hometown Hockey accounts.

Whitby Jersey Day

On Thursday, December 19 all students and businesses in Whitby are encouraged to wear their favourite hockey jersey or red as part of Rogers Hometown Hockey Jersey Day. Post a photo of yourself, along with your classmates, colleagues or friends on social media to join in the virtual fun. #WhitbyHometownHockey

Event Parking

Parking for the event is limited at Iroquois Park Sports Centre. Some parking will be available at the GO Train South Lot on Henry Street. Residents and visitors are encouraged to use public transit to get to the event where possible.
