Whitby Town Council and two of its standing committees meet on a three week cycle with Operations Committee meeting at 7:00 p.m. on the Monday of the first week, Planning and Development Committee meeting at 7:00 p.m. on the Monday for the second week and Council meeting at 7:00 p.m. on the Monday of the third week. The cycle then repeats itself.

Operations Committeetop

Operations Committee generally deals with issues related to Corporate Services, Community and Marketing Services, Fire Services and Public Works matters including financial planning, contract awards, levels of service and policy, roads and bridges, storm sewers, sidewalks, boulevards, trees and parks. Meetings are held in the Meeting Hall of the Whitby Municipal Building, 575 Rossland Road E., and commence at 7:00 p.m.

The Committee members include Councillor Sue Pitchforth (Chair), Councillor Elizabeth Roy, Councillor Shirley Scott, Councillor Gerry Emm, and Mayor Pat Perkins.

Planning and Development Committeetop

Planning and Development Committee generally deals with land use planning issues including Official Plan Amendments, Zoning By-law Amendments and other Public Meetings deemed to require public consultation. Meetings are held in the Meeting Hall of the Whitby Municipal Building, 575 Rossland Road E., and commence at 7:00 p.m.

The Committee members include Deputy Mayor Joe Drumm (Chair), Councillor Lorne Coe, Councillor Don Mitchell, Councillor Gerry Emm, and Mayor Pat Perkins.

Counciltop

Council must ratify the recommendations made at the Operations and Planning and Development Committee meetings in order to give effect to them. Council Meetings are held in the Meeting Hall of the Whitby Municipal Building, 575 Rossland Road E., and commence at 7:00 p.m.

Management Committeetop

Management Committee generally deals with matters related to, but not limited to, litigation, wages, salaries, benefits and discipline of personnel of the Town and collective bargaining. Meetings are called by the Mayor and are held on the third Tuesday of every month at 3:00 p.m.

The Committee members include Councillor Sue Pitchforth, Councillor Don Mitchell, Councillor Lorne Coe, Councillor Gerry Emm, and Mayor Pat Perkins (Chair).
