Summer Camps

Summer Camp positions available are in the Community & Marketing Services and Fire and Emergency Services Departments.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • legally entitled to work in Canada;
  • at least 16 years of age or older by the first day of the position;
  • currently enrolled in full-time studies and returning to full-time studies in the upcoming fall semester (you will be required to provide documentation regarding your student status);
  • Basic First Aid and CPR "B" certifications (proof will be required at the interview).
  • a current Police Record Check - Vulnerable Sector Screening (at the time of offer)
  • demonstrated leadership experience.

Summer Camp Hiring Process Steps:

  1. Application Process. The Summer Camp positions are posted online from December 22, 2017 to January 24, 2018. You must submit your application online and answer the entire set of pre-screening question to be considered. The closing time for all applications is 11:59 p.m. on the date of closing.
  2. Assessment Process. This takes place during the month of January. Once applications are reviewed the candidates selected for interview will be contacted. Interviews typically take place during the month of February.
  3. Decision Making and Selection Process. This will take place throughout the month of February. If successful, a verbal job offer will be issued in the month of March.
  4. Hiring and Documentation Process: This will take place during the month of  June. Successful applicants will be sent an electronic offer letter to accept and return along with your required documentation. Hire dates for Summer Camps begin as early as the first week of June.

Summer Student Employment

The Summer Student Employment Program runs annually from the beginning of May to the end of August. If you are interested in taking on an exciting challenge and making a difference in the community, we have positions available in a variety of areas.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • legally entitled to work in Canada;
  • at least 16 years of age or older by the first day of the position;
  • currently enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies at a post-secondary institution in the upcoming fall semester (you will be required to provide documentation regarding your student status);
  • some positions will require a valid G driver's license in good standing.

  2. Assessment Process. This takes place during the month of January. Once applications are reviewed the candidates selected for interview will be contacted. Interviews typically take place during the reading break in February.
  3. Decision Making and Selection Process. This will take place throughout the month of February. If successful, a verbal job offer will be issued by the end of March.
  4. Hiring and Documentation Process: This will take place during the month of April, into the beginning of May. Successful applicants will be sent an electronic offer letter to accept and return along with your required documentation. Hire dates for Summer Students begin as early as the last week in April, but most start the first week of May.
