New Youth Hub Opens at Henry Street High School
The Henry Street High School Youth Hub officially opened on October 24. The Hub - developed through a partnership between the Durham District School Board, Town of Whitby, Province of Ontario and other community organizations - is equipped with computers, gaming systems, TVs, foosball and pool tables, and more.
The Hub will also be home to the Town's third and southernmost Youth Room, offering youth ages 12 to 18 a wide range of free monthly events and programming, including cooking classes, gaming tournaments and after school sports.
The need to open a third Youth Room in south Whitby was identified last year as a next step in the Town's 2013-2018 Recreation and Leisure Services Youth Strategy, aimed at ensuring municipally-run youth programs and services remain accessible to Whitby youth.
